Plan some study sessions at the Library

It is nearly Week 12, the weather has turned cold, and the exams are coming. You may want to plan a study session at one of the libraries on the weekends or late into the evening.

In last year’s Library user survey, students suggested that Library opening times at weekends should increase especially coming up to the exams. In response, Matheson Library will be open longer from this weekend.

So, when are the libraries open for studying?

Weekend hours

  • Matheson Library, Clayton -  Saturday and Sunday 9am to 6pm (from 19 May until 17 June)
  • Caulfield Library - Saturday and Sunday 8am to 9pm (all semester)
  • Hargrave-Andrew and Law libraries, Clayton - Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm (from 19 May until 17 June)
  • Peninsula Library – Saturday and Sunday 1pm to 5pm (all semester)

Late night study

In Week 12, the libraries continue their regular weekday hours, with Caulfield open until 12 midnight, Matheson open until 12 midnight on Monday to Thursday, and Hargrave-Andrew open until 10pm.

From 28 May (Swot vac) until 21 June, Matheson Library offers extended study time until 2am (Monday-Thursday) while Fridays and weekends operate on normal hours.  A security bus will operate until 2.30 am on the nights when there is late opening.

Increased study places

Seating in Matheson Library increased because of the refurbishment by 25% to 1,780 seats and seating at Caulfield Library has doubled to 1,500 seats.  Both these libraries have bookable discussion rooms for group study.

At the Hargrave-Andrew Library approximately 120 extra student desks have been added, with some collection materials moved offsite.
