What is new for returning students

Welcome back to our returning students. We hope you enjoyed your summer break.

It's a good time to catch up on what has changed in the Library this year.

In response to what you told us via the Library User Survey last September (thanks to over 5000 students who participated), there is more accommodation and power for student laptops at Hargrave-Andrew Library. We've also made some changes to opening hours.

Opening hours changes

We've listened to your feedback and looked at our occupancy statistics, which led to the following changes:
  • Hargrave-Andrew Library at Clayton will stay open until 10 pm on weekdays, from Week 1 until the end of the exams. Previously it was only open until 9pm.
  • Caulfield Library will open earlier on weekends, opening at 8am and closing at 9pm on Saturdays and Sundays, from Week 1 until the end of the exams. Previously it did not open until 10am on the weekends.
  • Matheson Library at Clayton will open until 2 am, Monday to Thursday, during Swot Vac and exams, as it has in the past. In addition, on weekends from Week 11 onwards, the library will be open from 9am to 6pm.  Previously weekend hours were 10am to 5pm even during exam times.
For more information, see Library calendar.

Borrowing of special items

Loans of multimedia and special items like DVDs and music scores have been simplified, with most now available for standard loans.

Jane Austen exhibition

At the Matheson Library an interactive exhibition about author Jane Austen, designed by MADA students, is on display. You might like to try the virtual reality element, or walk through the whole exhibition. If the weather is nice, you may also like to visit the Matheson courtyard on lower ground, for outside study or group work.

Virtual tours - 360 degrees

We've created 360 degree virtual tours of both Matheson and Caulfield libraries. You can tour either library anytime, from anywhere.
