As you prepare for the beginning of a new semester, we’ve put together a short and sweet “Top 5 things” to help you on your way. You don’t need to remember all of this, but just know the Library team are here for you on your academic journey at Monash.
Top five things
1. Reading lists
Most of your subjects will have a reading list so check here to see what you should be reading week by week. It’s a great way to get a head start in your studies and be ready for asking the big questions in class.
2. Research and Learning Online
Don’t have time to come in to campus but need resources to develop skills to tackle your studies? Do not fear! You can access the right information about your assessment type or even how to get started with a database search by using the Research and Learning Online website. Get the skills you need for academic success any time any place!

4. English Connect
If this is your first time studying in English we have all the support you need at English Connect. This ranges from drop-in sessions with trained student volunteers to check your writing, to conversation groups and lots more. The drop-ins are co-located in the libraries, usually right next to the Research and Learning Point. Get connected!
5. Ask.monash
Last but not least, ask.monash exists to answer any and every Monash-related question you can think of! As well as a HUGE bank of frequently asked questions (FAQs), you can ask individual questions and they will be answered within 24 hours. So don’t sit there wondering, ask us!
We wish you all the very best as you get on your way this semester. Come and see us at one of our orientation classes this week! There is so much to do but remember, as the late Apple founder Steve Jobs said, the journey is the reward.
